Batman Begins: A movie review

Batman Begins (review) This new version of the Batman movie franchise is, in my opinion, the best sequel so far. While most fans of the Batman comic books and the Dark Knight graphic novels know full well the real story behind the mask, most movie-goers who have never picked up a Batman comic book or graphic novel know very little to none about the real Bruce Wayne. Most even think the franchise is some kiddie superhero who uses the cover of the night to fight crime as a “bat”. Well, this is mostly due to past Batman movies where the movie-makers targeted on kids and thus made their versions too colorful and swayed a bit from the original version.
Batman Begins stuck real close to the original graphic novel version. It explains to the audience on how as I child, Bruce Wayne falls into a cave and encounters a swarm of bats, thus developing a fear of bats. It was also shown that, at the same year, he witnesses his parents’ murder. These events were only shown as flashbacks in older Batman movie versions. The movie also follows Bruce Wayne’s attempts at understanding crime (due possibly to his fixation on his parents’ murder). And it is finally revealed how Batman came to have really good fighting skills: he was able to train with the League of Shadows, an elite vigilante group.
The movie gives audiences a very good understanding of Batman’s past, of how he came to acquire the skills and gadgets, and of the Batman’s present battles with crime.
